A log periodic antenna (also known as a log-periodic array or LPDA) is a multi-element, unidirectional, broadband, narrow-beam antenna that has impedance and radiation characteristics that are regularly repetitive as a logarithmic function of the excitation frequency.
The individual antenna-components are dipoles which are combined to a log-periodic dipole array (LPDA). The input impedance of a LPDA as a function of logarithm of the excitation frequency and shows a periodic variation. The length and spacing of the antenna-elements of our log-periodic antenna increase perfectly logarithmically from one end to the other and offer a very flat gain response.
