[Sticky] Jumping mouse & Spectran appears as "Ballpoint" device

The Spectran devices, like many other USB devices, is affected by a Windows bug that occasionally can cause them to be identified as a "Microsoft Serial Ballpoint" device. If that happens Windows will use a mouse driver to interpret the data coming from the Spectran which will cause erratic and chaotic behavior of the mouse cursor, and no data will be received in the MCS application.

As this is a bug internally to Windows it cannot be properly fixed on our side. To minimize the risk of this problem happening you should connect the Spectran to the USB port after Windows is completely started and before turning the Spectran on. Further you can try some of the following workarounds to avoid the bug:
